Community Involvement
During my junior year in college, I was involved with our school's program, Math Blast. Math Blast is one Saturday where kids grades K-6 come to campus to learn a math lesson and play a related game. I taught a K-1 classroom. My co-teacher and I taught about tangrams how to create different images with the shapes. Along with the lesson, we read, Grandfather Tang's Story. This is a heartwarming tale about a grandfather telling a story to his granddaughter with the use of tangrams. We then helped the students recreate the animals from the story with their own tangrams. It was an amazing experience and I really enjoyed impacting the community that has given me so much, even in this small way.
