NEARPOD
What is Nearpod? |
Nearpod is a great free website that allows you to make slides that include fun activities you can create based on your lesson! Nearpod allows you to create and upload audio, BBC videos, prompts for your students to draw and answer questions, fill in the blanks, multiple choice, and virtual reality to explore the world and different features in it. It is an extremely educational tool that interacts with the students in a way that takes them outside the classroom and encourages them to explore the world for themselves.

Nearpod is most accurately categorized in Domain 2c of the Danielson Framework. This section covers Managing Classroom Procedures. Nearpod makes it extremely easy to control your classroom procedure as you design the lessons and features that go into it. It also allows your students to work in different ways. They can work in groups, individually, or as a class. Nearpod also gives your students the transition needed from working under close direction to becoming more independent in their learning.

Nearpod is a valuable tool that I look forward to using in my own classroom. I can use it for reading colors and sounding out the letters of the alphabet. Children can put the alphabet in order and match easy pairs. Nearpod will help elementary school children not only understand the material, but also learn how to effectively use different styles of technology.

The 4 C's include Critical Thinking, Communication, Collaboration, and Creativity. Nearpod is established under Creativity. To make the Nearpod, one must be fairly creative in thinking of topics, questions, and the design of the assessment.
The ISTE standards include Empowered Learner, Digital Citizen, Computational Thinker, Creative Communicator, Global Collaborator, Knowledge Constructor, and Innovative Designer. Nearpod most accurately is depicted by the Knowledge Constructor standard. The student is using different resources available to them to learn. They are also testing in different styles that force them to think in a way that may be out of their comfort zone. |
